Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Texas A & M/Commerce

Kappa Delta

Our Chapter

The Gamma Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority was founded over 50 years ago on May 14, 1960. We currently have 40+ members that are active in both Kappa Delta and other organizations such as Honors College, the Regents Scholar program, both official A&M-Commerce Lion Athletics and intramural sports, and other honor societies on campus. Our chapter is led by 10 council officers who are elected annually and a variety of appointed officers. Our members excel academically and participate in campus activities that improve their leadership skills and expand their knowledge.

Throughout our time in KD, our members learn the value of philanthropy as they take part in our local and national charitable efforts. In addition to our philanthropic activities, Gamma Upsilon excels in the classroom, we have received the highest GPA on several occasions, and we constantly strive to be the best.

Our chapter holds a variety of social events, including but not limited to formal, informal, tailgating, alumna and date events. These events generally have a fun theme, that allows the members to dress up, whether in their fanciest attire or in a silly costume. Annually, our chapter holds a variety of educational programs that teach the members about personal presence, attitude, communication, enlarging our world, and a variety of other topics.

Our chapter is very proud of our strong sisterhood, and we hold monthly events like movie night, game night or craft afternoons that allow members to bond. The girls have a KD "family" of bigs and little sisters that help guide each other through the different years and stages at TAMUC. Being a member of Kappa Delta means becoming something bigger than yourself and we can't wait to see what future has in store!

TAMUC is home to 4 Panhellenic sororities and Gamma Upsilon is proud to be very competitive on campus. This past year we have been awarded Panhellenic's Outstanding Philanthropy and Community Service Award for our Girl Scout Mentoring program, 2018 Greek Week Champions, Greek Week Banner Winner, Greek Week Social Media Winner, Most Greek Week Canned Food Drive Donations, Most Greek Week Participation at the Alumni Panel, and Best Greek Week Unity Stroll. In the past we have been awarded chapter of the year, and the homecoming spirit champion.
